Since high school I have always been the big girl. I weighed over 120kgs when I fell pregnant with my second daughter, being this large made my pregnancy horrible and I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia. I came home from the hospital still weighing over 120kg and I knew I had to do something if I wanted to play an active role in my girls’ lives. So the long journey began, changing my eating habits and being weighed each week so I had some accountability. 20kgs down and it all came to a halt, I knew I had to try something else so I started walking and lost a little more weight but I still had a long way to go. So I joined a gym and hated it, joined another gym and hated that one also. I knew then that it wasn’t going to work if I continued to do something I hated. Then in 2008 we decided to move our family to the beautiful Central Coast and it proved to be the best thing we have ever done. I remember one night when we first moved here I decided to go for a walk along the beach and I saw these super-fit crazy people training. They all looked so happy and I thought I need to be a part of that. I started training with High Tide three times a week and met all my wonderful 9:30am ladies who I love dearly. I started to lose more weight and by the end of 2010 I had lost 50kg. I was not only lighter, but fitter than I had ever been. High Tide has helped me train whilst injured and even heavily pregnant. If it wasn’t for the support I received from the trainers and members I would not have been able to keep up my training and lose weight throughout my last pregnancy. This pregnancy was completely different to my first two, I enjoyed it so much more. I was back into training less than four weeks after giving birth and again was welcomed back with encouragement and smiling faces. In total I have lost 67kg and I am about to embark on a new challenge – I was recently approached about training to become a fitness model. I jumped on the idea knowing that this next step will be the icing on the cake. I have a lot of hard work and discipline ahead of me but with my determination and the support from fellow High Tiders the journey will be much easier. I’m also in the process of finishing my fitness training so I can help people achieve their goals. I want to inspire and educate anyone who wants to listen. Thank you so much High Tide for all your help especially Kylee who has always been there even if it’s just a short text to see if I’m okay. - Name removed at the request of the testimonee PS. Who knows? Maybe next time when you hear about me it’s maybe on the cover of Oxygen Magazine. I can have that dream even if it may seem a long way away, I’m going to continue to think big… |
My involvement with High Tide Fitness began in mid-2011 when I was contracted to help Kylee with her website and online marketing. I had always seen the High Tide gang doing various workouts around the beach and park, but never joined in. At this stage I'd been into triathlons, multisport races and endurance events for several years but had packed on a few kilos. Whilst taking photos and shooting video footage for the new High Tide website I was impressed by what I saw - not only in terms of what the High Tiders in front of the lens were doing, but how much they seemed to be enjoying the effort and exertion and how friendly and fun the classes were. After the website was launched, I decided to start coming along myself. Fast-forward six months, and I have not only dropped 10kg but made some awesome friends that I not only do classes with but also social activities and see at various races around the traps like the Huskisson Triathlon and the Valley Stampede. Heading along to High Tide classes a couple of times a week and going hell for leather are now a must, and something I really look forward to for both fitness and fun. |
I joined High Tide Fitness camp a couple of years ago when I decided to achieve a personal life goal of walking the Kokoda Track. Through the camp I met other like minded individuals who shared the same goal and we all conquered it together. After 9 months of help from the high tide trainers I left in the best shape of my life. With all the conditioning from the group classes we managed to walk the track in 1 less day than planned. High tide fitness camp is not just your every day 'boot camp'. Although each session is a group class you still feel like its being met with personal attention. From the trainers, people you meet and the locations you train at, every session is unique and you never get bored...unlike the same 4 walls at the gym. You're always met with motivation from the trainers to keep pushing yourself and striving for bigger things. Sooner or later High Tide Fitness becomes a drug where your addicted to the hurt, pain and sweat. You leave each session feeling a better person, with a great outlook on life, sweaty clothes, a smile from ear to ear and craving that next hit. |
I have seen people go from unfit over weight or just lazy to super fit or super hot thanks to our great trainers the enforces is enjoyment as well as getting fit and healthy. I have made many new friends and annoyed plenty of old ones and love ever minute of it so best of luck with your training and remember the best exercise is a smile. |
Real estate sales is a mentally demanding occupation, and requires a strong mindset to succeed. To assist our team to remain focused I made a permanent booking for McLachlan Partners to train with Hightide Fitness, becoming their first corporate partner. The added fitness , team spirit and friendships formed that has come out our sessions has been truly fantastic , and our association with Hightide has become an intrical part of our business. To be able to spend time with colleagues, and invited clients , and start the day training in such geographically beautiful and positive environment has been very enjoyable and rewarding and I would recommend Hightide Fitness it to any business looking to improve team spirit and performance and morale . - Bruce McLachlan, Principal, McLachlan Partners Central Coast |
Why do High Tide bootcamp ? - Craig Horton |
We joined High Tide Bootcamp as a new way to keep fit. The trainers at HighTide encourage & push us to achieve our maximum potential with a variety of different classes. Our kids also love Bootcamp. We have never competed in any fitness events. My husband Matt then decided to train harder for The World Masters and entered the 2km beach run.He finished 5th in the 40-49yrs age category! After that we have entered all the events with the High Tide crew, like Tough Bloke (Syd & Melb), The Bay to Bay,The Mud Run & The Warrior Dash. Matt achieved his first win ever this year at Tough Bloke Melbourne in his age group and placed 5th overall. Our 12 year old son Jaeger, entered The Bondi Barefoot & won the U19's! And has just made the State team for Cross Country!!! - Wendy May |
So, I'm the girl who goes to the gym...wearing the gym gear, looking the part, but when i get to the gym...I only use the treadmill till it starts to hurt..then i stop. Then i use the bike..till it hurts, then i stop.i have every excuse in my mind telling me to go home..so after a half hearted workout,i go home and i wonder why im not getting any fitter or losing wieght!.... I met a few Mum's from school and they do this 'bootcamp'..and they love it.One day i decided to go try it out and realised that it is nothing like a gym!! At Hightide there is a person telling you to 'get up'....'you can do it'....'one more'.and it works! I think that the girls training next to you are a great help too, they all encourage you to keep going!! I love that Hightide is for any fitness level!! So now the girl who did the least she could at the Gym is now RUNNING and FINISHING something... i did the 'bay to bay'' last year beacuse of Hightide and I'm going to do it again this year.Hightide has changed my life :) - Karen Jones-Wheeler |
